Press TV reports:

An aide to Iran’s president has denied the U.S. allegation that Tehran was planning to wage terror attacks in the U.S. Ali Akbar Javanfekr, press advisor to the Iranian President, said the claim is a prefabricated scenario seeking to distract public attention away from domestic problems within the United States.

Meanwhile, a former CIA and DIA officer has questioned the U.S. allegations that Iran was planning to wage terror attacks in the U.S. Philip Giraldi told Press TV’s U.S. Desk on Tuesday that the story is “implausible”. Giraldi said, “I don’t understand how an allegedly sophisticated plot … would involve a drug gang from Mexico. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

He also said that he hoped that the American public would be skeptical about the allegations.
