The Passionate Attachment

America's entanglement with Israel

Why doesn’t Iran name and shame their detractors?

with one comment

In a comment on a typically sober analysis by Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett of Iran’s response to U.S. allegations over the ludicrous murder-for-hire plot, I posed this question:

What I can’t understand is why Iranian spokesmen don’t specify who is behind much, if not all, of the anti-Iranian propaganda. They are right to compare this latest concocted plot to the pre-Iraq War “intelligence.” But aren’t they aware that much of that fixed intelligence was funneled from Ariel Sharon’s office to the White House via Doug Feith’s Office of Special Plans in the Pentagon? Similarly, who but the Israelis benefit from a plot that implicates Tehran in an outrageous terror attack on a Saudi envoy in D.C. — the question of a “requisite provocation” having been discussed at length in the 2009 Saban Center paper, “Which Path to Persia?” The “proposed” attack on the Israeli embassies thrown in for good measure only heightens the suspicion that this B-movie script was composed in Tel Aviv.

  1. I don’t think Iran need specify who is actually behind the anti-Iranian propaganda, for this is no longer a closely guarded secret. Iran has become skilled after decades at deflecting these attacks and as Israel’s Captain Clouseau staggers from one bungled operation to the next from the Lillehammer assassination to Saddam’s Nukes, it is obvious that the ‘chosen ones’ have blown cover and flushed down the toilet whatever credibility they thought they had, taking along with them the US moral high ground.

Iran could bring their grievances before the Security Council but wouldn’t the US do a dummy spit and withdraw funding from that Organization as well? The UN can strive to maintain relevancy and in an act of defiance give Palestinians full recognition or allow itself to be blackmailed, at the thought of losing their funding, and bow to US pressure to scuttle the Palestinians application..

Iraq fought a 8Y proxy war for the West and lost. Neither the US nor Israel can withstand a sustained war against Iran if Afghanistan and Iraq is an example of winning.
