  1. That would be the manly man…

  2. Gilbert Doctorow makes a great remark in this, probably a quote from some famous historical statesman: “Hypocrisy is the small change of diplomacy.”

  3. It sounds like a variation on a line from F. S. Northedge’s “The League of Nations: Its Life and Times, 1920-1946,” in which the British Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics wrote, “The League thus tended to be left with the small change of diplomacy, questions which, for one reason or another, the Allies [Britain, France, Italy and Germany] did not wish to keep in their own hands.”

  4. “The Manly Man is a swaggering man, carrying himself with pride and self-assurance. He is not a follower and may not be a leader but, is unswayed by external forces. He goes where he wants, wears what he wants and says what he wants with no fear of condemnation.”

Not sure if that’s a fitting description for an Israel lobby mouthpiece.

  5. I’d call it assertiveness, rather than swagger. Plus a programmatic determination constantly to return to the same propaganda point: in this case, Iran’s supposed non-compliance with the NPT, which is really its non-compliance with the so-called Additional Protocol, the latter being interpreted as a requirement to prove a negative, which is an impossibility. Nobody can prove they don’t have a concealed weapons program; we know that from Iraq. I seem to recall that Iran never quite signed up to the Additional Protocol, but I could be wrong. Such signatures are extorted under duress, anyway.

  6. This fellow is typical of those who swarm to serve power in DC. It is no accident that Capitol Hill and Dupont Circle are gay meccas.
